We redeveloped the Bangs Street, Prahran housing site to replace older-style housing with 434 new homes that are bright, modern and energy efficient.

The new one-, 2,- 3- and 4-bedroom homes are a mix of social and market rental homes, bringing a 90% uplift in social housing to the site.

The project created vibrant new outdoor spaces with a public park, gardens and pedestrian and cycling pathways. 

Delivered through a first-of-its kind Ground Lease Model, we are leasing the land to not-for-profit project partner Building Communities to manage and maintain for the next 40 years, enabling all land to remain in public ownership.

We completed the Bangs Street redevelopment in early 2024 and residents have now settled into their new homes.

Project update

Construction of the new homes at Bangs Street was complete in early 2024 and renters, including those returning to the site, began moving in soon after.   

Community Housing Limited (CHL) are the tenancy managers at Bangs Street and have an office on-site to provide support, services and a program of community activities for residents.
