The Tarakan Street development project in Heidelberg West is now complete.

The site is located on Tarakan Street just 10 km northeast of Melbourne's city centre. It’s ideally located close to public transport, community services, local schools and shops. 

This project replaced 60 older style homes that were not fit for purpose with 130 new homes, including 67 social homes and 63 affordable homes. The site as been designed with quality outdoor spaces a terrace garden, barbeque facilities and a children’s play space.

Project update

Uniting is a not-for-profit community housing agency that will manage the social housing at the Tarakan Street site for the next 30 years. Based in an office near the site, Uniting will provide tenancy management, maintenance services and community engagement services. 

The Victorian Affordable Rentals consortium (VARc) was appointed as the tenancy manager for affordable housing at the Tarakan Street site. VARc brings together a group of specialist tenancy managers with skills in renter engagement and property management.
