We are building 54 modern, energy-efficient, and environmentally sustainable homes on Ormond Road, East Geelong as part of our Big Housing Build.
The new homes will replace old housing along Ormond Road, between Ensby and Tate Street, near Geelong City Centre.
The project will better meet the needs of residents, with easy access to schools, medical services, employment, transport and other amenities.

Community consultation
In late 2023, we invited community to provide feedback on plans for the Ormond Rd, East Geelong housing site.
We heard from East Geelong residents, neighbours and other local stakeholders.

Current and upcoming works
Early works, including low-risk asbestos removal, geotechnical soil investigation, existing site condition and services survey, took place during August and September 2024.
All works were managed in line with environmental and safety regulations by experienced qualified contractors.
Main construction work are scheduled to begin by late 2024, with the new homes expected to be completed in 2026.
Further details and dates to be confirmed once the building contractor has been secured.
We will continue to work closely with the nearby businesses and community throughout the construction period.
Questions and answers
The project started in mid-2023 with demolition and early works. New homes are expected to be completed in 2026.
Main construction works are estimated to begin by late 2024.
We will continue to keep the local community informed throughout the construction process.
Relocated renters will have first rights to move into the new housing based on their existing public housing terms and conditions.

Homes Victoria will continue to work with local businesses to mitigate any construction impacts.
The timeline may change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances. Homes Victoria will update you when there are significant changes to the program.
The health and safety of the East Geelong community is our priority, and we will restrict work area access to contractors only. All works will be compliant with WorkSafe Victoria and EPA Victoria regulations.
