Renters have started settling into their new homes at the Abbotsford Street site in North Melbourne, which was officially completed in September last year.
We delivered this project in partnership with MAB Corporation and trusted not-for-profit community housing organisation, HousingFirst.
The revitalised site features 127 modern and high-quality social homes, along with 17 market townhouses, which has created a 13% uplift in social housing at the site.
The development has a mix of one-, 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom homes.
A community room and internal landscaped gardens are also part of the redevelopment.
The Abbotsford Street site is located only 1km from Melbourne’s city centre and offers easy access to public transport, jobs, shops, services and schools.
HousingFirst is the community housing organisation responsible for tenancy and asset management at the site.

About High-rise relocations
We are replacing 44 ageing high-rise public housing buildings with modern accessible and energy efficient homes and improved community facilities.
When it is time to move, renters will be given plenty of notice and supported every step of the way. Our relocations team will help renters find a suitable home according to their needs and preferences and will support them with the move.
This includes:
- Meeting with renters to understand where they want to live and what they need in their new homes
- Booking a removalist and providing packing boxes and materials
- Paying for all reasonable moving costs
- Helping renters to disconnect and reconnect utilities
- Helping renters to connect with local services like health and education providers
- Supporting renters to return to the new homes when finished, depending on their needs, eligibility, and the suitability of the new homes.
