We’re building 54 social housing homes on Ormond Road, East Geelong as part of the Big Housing Build.
The Ormond Road development includes a mix of one, 2- and 3-bedroom homes, with completion expected in 2026.
The new homes will be energy-efficient, making them more comfortable and less expensive to heat and cool.
A total of 5% of the new homes will be designed to meet accessibility standards for Victorians living with disabilities.
What is social housing?
Social housing is short and long-term rental housing that is owned and run by the government or not-for-profit agencies.
Social housing is made up of two types of housing, public housing and community housing. It is for people on low incomes who need housing, especially those who have recently experienced homelessness, family violence or have other special needs.

About the Big Housing Build
The State Government’s Big Housing Build was announced in November 2020.
More than 10,000 homes have now been completed or are underway.
The investment of more than $8 billion in social and affordable housing is delivering safe, secure, and appropriate housing for Victorians in need, including young people, people with mental illness, victim survivors of family violence, Aboriginal Victorians and people living in regional Victoria.
