Accessing and downloading documents

This website is designed to be accessible to all site visitors.

Information on this website is in HTML and a range of other formats.

Microsoft Word

A document is identified in its link by '.doc' or '.docx'. It should open using the word processing software you have on your computer (like Microsoft Word).

If you don't have any word processing software, you can download the free open source Libre Office software (link is external).

You can also open and view Word documents in your browser using Microsoft's free Office Online apps (link is external). You can also check Microsoft's online doc viewer (link is external).

Portable document format (PDF)

We acknowledge that PDFs are non-compliant. There are some PDF documents on this website. If you can't open these documents, you may need to download a pdf reader. Foxit PDF Reader (link is external) and Adobe Acrobat Reader (link is external) are examples of free PDF readers.

Listening to information in PDFs

Some PDFs on this website can be automatically read out loud. You will need sound on your computer and a recent version of the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software. Then:

Open the PDF document from this website
Save it to your computer
Open the 'View' menu (look at the top toolbar)
Select 'Activate read out loud'.

Images

There are images on this website and within documents. The content of images is described using alt tags (alternative text) or captions.

If you are having problems with any documents, we can give you the information in another format.

For PDFs, tagged PDFs are more easily read when using adaptive technologies.

If you find a PDF you are unable to read, you can ask us for a tagged version or we can give you the document in an alternative format.
