Homes Victoria is establishing a permanent state-wide Public Housing Renter Consultative Committee which will build on the positive feedback received from last years’ time-limited Committee and Roundtables.
The Committee is being established to play an important role in facilitating in-depth discussions between Homes Victoria and public housing renters throughout Victoria.
The Committee will provide an additional opportunity for Homes Victoria to hold in-depth conversations with a group of public housing renters across Victoria, helping to shape the design and delivery of important housing reforms and improvement work.
Homes Victoria CEO Simon Newport said these discussions allow public housing renters to have a greater involvement in decisions that impact the homes, communities and places they live in.
“Homes Victoria is committed to elevating the voice of our renters and their lived experience – and this Committee is part of that, ensuring that renter voices are at the forefront of our public housing service delivery and design,” Mr Newport said.
The Committee will serve as a platform for renters across Victoria to share their invaluable insights and provide input into the decision-making process about the public housing services they receive.
The Committee will have between 12-16 renters selected and will run for an 18-month term. The first meeting is expected to take place at the end of November with subsequent meetings following every two months.
