Homes Victoria is currently recruiting for a Homelessness Lived Experience Reference Group to support homelessness reform actions.
Based off their knowledge and expertise, group members will offer insights on developing practical solutions and improving policies and programs related to homelessness.
Homes Victoria CEO Simon Newport said the lived or living experience of people who understand the impacts of homelessness would be paramount to Homes Victoria’s ongoing work.
“We’re looking forward to genuinely collaborating with people who have experienced homelessness,” Mr Newport said.
“Their feedback will help us improve our policies and programs, to ensure we are designing the things that work for the people who need them the most.”
Mr Newport said Homes Victoria already works with many homelessness service and community housing providers which are not-for-profit, mission-driven organisations.
“We do this as part of a commitment to invest in the future of community housing to address housing stress and homelessness.
“Our community housing projects pave the way to support those in the most need – including people experiencing homelessness.
“This work helps to break the cycle of homelessness by creating more opportunities to house people quickly.”
The Council to Homeless Persons is assisting Homes Victoria in establishing, recruiting, training, and providing ongoing support to the Reference Group members in carrying out their roles.
