More and better homes are coming to Wantirna South

We’re delivering modern and energy-efficient social housing for renters in Wantirna South.

Homes Victoria has partnered with Community Housing Victoria Limited to deliver 118 one- and two-bedroom homes as part of the Big Housing Build.

These new homes are just minutes away from local schools, hospitals, public transport, dining and shopping options. A major shopping centre is across the road, several hospitals are five minutes’ drive away, and there are various schools within walking and driving distance.

The multi-storey development has created more than 470 jobs.

All homes have been designed to meet Livable Housing Design Guidelines Silver Level standards and achieve a NatHERS seven-star energy rating. This means that every home will be easier to keep warm in winter and cool in summer, so renters save money and stay comfortable.

Community Housing Victoria Limited is providing tenancy management at Wantirna South, with the homes allocated to people on the Victorian Housing Register.

What is social housing? Livable

Social housing is short and long-term rental housing that is owned and run by the government or not-for-profit agencies.

Social housing is made up of two types of housing, public housing and community housing. It is for people on low incomes who need housing, especially those who have recently experienced homelessness, family violence or have other special needs.

Social housing is generally subsidised for people on low incomes who need housing, especially those who have experienced homelessness, family violence or have other special needs.

About the Big Housing Build

The State Government’s Big Housing Build was announced in November 2020.

More than 10,000 homes have now been completed or are underway.

The investment of more than $8 billion in social and affordable housing is delivering safe, secure, and appropriate housing for Victorians in need, including young people, people with mental illness, victim survivors of family violence, Aboriginal Victorians and people living in regional Victoria.
